In July of 2016, I stood on a stage at an international environmental conference, focused on the preservation of cetaceans, and premiered a film that I co-produced and directed with my sister. We'd worked as a team on this film for years, and that night at the premier in Friday Harbor Washington, I watched those dreams come to fruition as I stood beside my team and watched our film, Voiceless, play for the first time on the big screen.
In August of 2017, I published my first novel, book 1 in a four book series called The Blood Race. Since then, three more books have followed: Worlds Beneath, Resurgence and Anomaly, the prequel of the series.
I mention these two events in my life, because both were dreams of mine that became reality, seeds that were planted throughout my upbringing in rural Vermont where my loving, free-spirited parents Homeschooled my sister and I, and raised us to respect and protect all life on this beautiful planet Earth. I grew up in the woods and on the water - in the forest, where I hooted back to the Barred owls, and on the New England coastline where I learned to stand up on a surfboard.
My love for telling stories and for protecting, preserving, and of course exploring the environment bleeds over into every aspect of my life. I love this planet and I love writing stories. And this blog is about my life doing both - and many things in between! This is where I share about my books, inspiration for other story-tellers, hikes, aventures, thoughts, inspiration, green smoothie recipes, the sustainable and ethical gear I use, meditations, and notes from the path as I continue to write and live sustainably.
Basically, this blog is a compost pile of all the things I love. My goal is for every post to be like a burst of mountain air and sunlight. That first sip of coffee feeling. The reaching summit feeling. That paddling out feeling.
You get my point. I hope you enjoy the notes. And if you want them in your inbox, sign up for the emails.
stay stoked my friend,
Kate

Absolutely loved the interplay between the different characters, and each richly contributing to crucial life themes we all must journey in... beliefs, which ones & in whom; sacrafice, what that looks like for me & am I willing as I consider the cost; trust, can I overcome my past with its issues to give it, etc. etc. Totally awesome & stimulating as I continue to grow & evaluate my own progress. Thank You!
